I really enjoyed staying at this hostel during my time in Auckland. It was convenient to get to from the airport by the transport bus, to stroll into the centre and the main sites - about 15 minutes walk - and to get to pickup locations for tours. The hostel itself has 24 hour check in with digital check in and a staff member most of the time. The whole bottom floor is an open plan communal area with different seating areas where I saw people working on laptops, reading and just chilling, as well as a large kitchen area with lots of space (shelves and fridges) to store food and cook for yourself. There was always a good handful of people around even though we were heading into winter and off season and from walking in the door there was a friendly, welcoming vibe. There was also an attached bar area where you could go and chill on sofas or sit in bar stools - the food there was phenomenal and the coffee was also fantastic. Recommend trying it out if you stay here! The rooms are pods with a little slidey door on each pod. There were lights and charging areas within each one and a large bag storage cabinet per bed which was linked to your room card. I was in the 12 bed dorm and found that there was lots of space, it was quiet and peaceful and clean. Beds were comfy and spacious coming with linen etc. The staff members I saw were friendly and helpful adding to the lovely vibe of the place. The bathrooms were communal on each floor - it did take a little bit of time to find it the first time as it is built a little maze esk with lots of corridors but it is well signposted and great quality when you get there - there were more than enough showers all kept clean and presentable so no waiting and no ickyness either. Really enjoyed staying here, I would stay again in an instant and recommend to others as well.

The hip and chill vibe, facilities and bathrooms that are regularly cleaned and dried even at late hours. Left behind toiletries are neatly placed in free-to-take bin in bathroom—very eco friendly. Great pressure in showers thought more hooks would be welcomed. Bed was super comfy with fresh linen. Love the brilliant soft shut sliding door to individual pod that gives privacy. Everything is organized and easy to use. Location borders sketchy side of Hobson but the opposite direction takes you to the trendier, busier and more touristy part of Auckland, all walkable if you’re reasonably fit (hilly terrain). Seems to attract travel bugs and sociable, friendly travellers from everywhere. Has onsite restaurant with so-so food. Better options beyond its walls. Always someone at reception to help with questions. Great lockers with digital locks to save you from having to carry one more key.

Great location just a 5min walk from Sky Tower. IMPECCABLE cleanliness of the entire property, be it the dorms, the bathrooms, the kitchen and common areas- which can’t be easy given the hostel capacity and number of guests. Well equipped kitchen; I didn’t use it much as I opted for readymade soup bricks most nights there but some people were cooking entire meals from scratch. Comfortable bed capsules giving you lots of privacy. Also the dorms are soundproof, you won’t hear anything from outside. Lots of social events/activities organized by the cafe/restaurant located in the ground floor (didn’t try but was nice to see). Washing machines available for a cost of 10$ (wash + dryer). You can even iron your clothes which I’ve never seen in a hostel before lol. Last but not least, very friendly and helpful staff.

Very nice place to stay. Especially with all the communal areas. Lots of activities going on at Miss Lucy's (although not always very well organised or timely). The pods are very comfortable, with plenty of space to store your things and a secure locker. You can have your own space and privacy, which is not always the case in hostels. The kitchen is large and there is plenty of seating. The staff is nice, and the travel desk thing is very practical. Check-in and check-out are quite easy (you do have to pay 15$ if you want to check-in early tho). I stayed in other hostels since Lylo, and honestly, nothing compares to it. By far the best hostel I've ever been in.

LYLO is one of the best I have ever stayed in in all of my 50+ countries. Very new and clean, as well as well thought of— from digital self check-in and check-out, down to the modern pod with sliding cover— it was all worth the price! Large kitchen with complete cooking tools and utensils and large shelvings to store personal food stuff (though i didn’t use kitchen). Room was of 8-bed and still felt roomy. I usually prefer rooms with windows but Lylo’s felt cozy and I had great sleep. They have an in house bar/restaurant and a tatoo and barber corner!
